Welcome to the inaugural post for the new BWP Site! This month, it was my turn to take the stage and deliver a presentation entitled “Building A SaaS Solution Using WordPress.”

WordPress isn’t necessarily the first platform that springs to mind when building a SaaS solution. However, as a solo entrepreneur with a modest budget, I explained why it was my choice for building the SaaS solution I’m developing for Theatrical Production management.

What is a SaaS?

Software-as-a-Service (a.k.a. SaaS) isn’t exactly a new thing. Essentially, it’s a delivery model that comes in various flavours to provide what’s essentially software hosted in the cloud.

SaaS solutions require no download or deployment, can be accessed from virtually anywhere, and save users time and effort when it comes to updates and upgrades.

They’re also typically subscription-oriented, giving a vendor — i.e. the person or organisation that builds the SaaS solution — the opportunity for revenue generation based on an industry-recognised pattern.

Presenting at the Meetup

Following the traditional speaker introduction, it was time to delve into the content of the presentation. As is the usual format at these events, this involved giving a talk in conjunction with a slide deck.

As ever, there was a good turnout, with lots of lively participation as part of the post-presentation Q&A. Something for which attending BWP events in-person — as well as the pre/post-presentation buffet and conversation — is always worthwhile 😎
